But besides tourism, there are other major reasons why millions of people in the region have taken refuge in Turkey, including escape from the wars in the Arab Spring, treatment and education, as well as work and investment.
Turkey aims to attract 36 million foreign tourists in 2018, according to Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Noman Kurtulmusch.
Unlike many countries that restrict the conditions of residence on its territory, Turkey is one of the most prominent countries that enjoy the possibility of granting them all kinds of residence on its territory, without any legal obstacles.
Recently, Turkey has worked to expand government departments concerned with the issuance of residence permits for foreigners of all kinds, and to provide staff who speak international languages such as Arabic and English, to facilitate communication with foreign applicants.
All residences are issued by the Security Department (Directorate General of Immigration Department) of the Ministry of Interior, after completing the required conditions for each type.
In the following report, Anatolia lists the six most important types of residence in Turkey, according to the country's security department:
** 1 - Tourist accommodation
Tourist residency is issued at the request of the applicant, through booking an appointment to go to the Department, through its official website on the Internet.
The residence is usually granted for one year and is required to bring the property through the house lease and the translation of the passport into Turkish.
The passport shall be certified by the notary public, 4 personal photographs, in addition to health insurance (sigorta) and the tax number obtained from the tax department (it takes less than half an hour).
** 2 - Student residence
Residence is granted to students who come to Turkey to study in Turkish universities, and are required to obtain tourist accommodation, in addition to a "proof of student", which is officially certified by the university registered.
** 3 - Residence work
The residence permit is granted to foreigners who work in Turkish companies. The company obtains a work permit from the Ministry of Labor for the foreigner to be hired and then to apply for a residence permit.
In addition, the company is required to employ five Turks for each foreign employee, and must obtain a tourist residency before applying to the Ministry of Labor.It takes about 40 days to obtain a work visa.
In the case of the father or mother obtaining a residence permit, all members of the family (husband / wife / children) are entitled to a residence permit that is the same as the length of stay of the accompanying person.
** 4 - Establishment of humanitarian cases
This type of residency is granted to refugees in Turkey, with the highest proportion being Syrians.
** 5 - Real estate residence "residence property".
It is a renewed residence granted to foreigners who own property (immovable) in Turkey, granted for a full year, and the wife and children are entitled to a residence permit.
The total number of houses bought by foreigners in Turkey last year, 22 thousand and 234 houses, mostly in Istanbul, where the number of houses sold to foreigners 8,182 houses, according to official statistics.
In second place came Antalya, which sold 4,707 homes to foreigners last year, then Bursa for 1,474 houses, and in fourth place Yalova for 1,797 houses.
** 6 - Family residence
In case of marrying a Turkish wife / spouse, it can be applied for. The duration of stay may be one, two or three years, depending on the application submitted. The owner is entitled to apply for Turkish citizenship after three years.
